Turkish Neonatal Society, is a non-governmental organization, established to accelerate the professional development of medical personnel working in the neonatal field in Turkey, to inform families of newborns and to raise social awareness by preventing the diseases of neonatal period, tracking and applying the developments of diagnosis and treatment. Since the establishment at Hacettepe University in 1989, many educational activities have been carried out; with publications and the undertaken responsibilities Neonatal Society has become the forefront in the social fields. Neonatology Society has continued to work in cooperation with other associations as a member of the Coordination Board of the Turkish National Union of Experts.
On July 15, 1998, the society was named as "Turkish Neonatal Society" by the decision of the Council of Ministers. With this decision, Turkish Neonatal Society, that aims to reduce the deaths of newborn infants and keep them alive without any sequela in Turkey, has gained the right to become a national association and to represent Turkey in the field of neonatology with Turkish Neonatal Society’s own neonatologists.
Turkish Neonatal Society is organizing educative panels, courses, regional meetings and diagnosis and treatment protocols. The created treatment protocols are followed closely by the doctors who give health care to the newborn all over Turkey. Turkish Neonatal Society provides close collaboration with other science and medicine branches cooperating with the neonatology department to organize joint meetings and establish common protocols. Turkish Neonatal Society is leading the way in providing both technical infrastructure and planning for working with commissions for the establishment of multicenter studies in the newborn area. Also encourages the work in the field of newborn by giving prizes in the field of papers, research projects and research articles with the competitions it organizes every year. Turkish Neonatal Society grants scholarships to three members who are successful in the exam it organises each year to be seen as observers in a reputable center abroad. With all these services, Turkish Neonatal Society aims to increase the knowledge and experience of its members and to ensure that the health services offered to newborn babies in our country are of standard and high quality. For this purpose, in every scientific activity, our country is in close cooperation with the health authority. Turkish Neonatal Society also brings together parents and their babies on observances like World Premature Day to organize informative and cohesive meetings.

President Of Turkish Neonatology Society Prof. Dr. Esin Koç
Prof. Dr. Esin Koç, who was born in 1962 in Izmir, was graduated from TED Collage Ankara in 1980 and Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. After her compulsory service in Ordu, she had specialized in Child Health and Diseases in Dr. Sami Ulus Children’s Hospital.
After she completed her neonatology specialization in Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in between 1991 and 1994, she worked at the University of Graz in 1994, and at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1995.
Koç became associate professor in Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Child Health and Diseases in 1997 and professor in 2002. Prof. Dr Esin Koç, who was in also administrative positions such as Board Member of Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, wrote more than 200 national and international articles.
Koç served as the General Secretary of Turkish Neonatal Society between 2010 and 2015, and has been serving as the President of Turkish Neonatal Society since May 2015.
